Understanding the Equality Act 2010

About the course

This course is about understanding how to use the Equality Act 2010 to deliver good equality
practice at work. It helps all employees to work successfully with people who come from
different backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles. By the end of the course, participants should
understand how to behave in ways that are respectful to everyone and support their employer
to deliver services of the highest quality.

Unit 1 introduces participants to the Equality Act 2010 and the Human Rights Act 1998.
Units 2 to 8 cover each of the characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010.
Units 9 and 10 cover the type of behaviour that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010,
    including discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
Unit 11 summarises the course and tells participants where to find more information on
    equality law.

Units are illustrated with scenarios that show how the Act works in practice. They have
multiple-choice questions that help everyone to learn. If participants get answers wrong or
don’t choose the best option, they will see an explanation on the following page.

What participants get when they finish the course

Participants get an overall score showing how well they have done. They can save and
